Why in the world would I be thinking about Halloween at the beginning of August?
I will tell you why.
I ordered these leggings from the Nordstrom Sale. And when they came in, my insecurities screamed, can I pull these off?? And by golly, they are fabulous. Seriously I am so glad I went for it. I immediately put them on and texted my friend a picture of my shiny faux leather legs. And I told her that these leggings made me feel like Sandy from Grease. And not Sandra-Dee…Sandy.
Immediately I started thinking of how I could put an entire outfit together like that and how cute it would be for these leggings to be used as a costume for Halloween! I am all about the multi-tasking, so I love the idea of using your closet to help you make your Halloween costume simple!
I created 5 looks that I think would be so easy and perfect for Halloween!
1. Sandy from Grease
Closet Staple: black (potentially faux leather) leggings
Add in a leather jacket, off the shoulder top, red shoes, and red lipstick for the perfect Sandy look. I got chills and they really are multiplying.
Closet Staple: jeans and boots
3. The Classic Audrey
Closet Staple: Little Black Dress
If you have a LBD floating around, just add some pearls and gloves, and you have an instant costume! And so elegant! The sunglasses and hair piece are just perfect extra touches.
Closet Staple: Plaid Shirt
I love this idea! Add some overalls, a straw hat, and a few random pieces of straw sticking out and you have yourself a costume. So easy. And this is a super cute makeup idea to top off the look!
5. Blair (of course)
Closet Staple: White Button Up Shirt
Who doesn’t love some Blair Waldorf in their life? If you don’t, I don’t know that we can actually be friends. For this ensemble, the key pieces are a neck scarf and bow headband! You can do a skirt with the tall socks or tights, or you could do some jeans and boots. Either way, all the Gossip Girl feels will be there.
So those are five super simple costumes that you can put together with pieces you probably already have in your closet! And what I like about them is that if you add one of the extra pieces – a skirt, yellow sweater, leather jacket, strand of pearls, etc, they are also things you will wear throughout the fall, not just Halloween! And if you look now, you are sure to find some great deals between now and then.
I know it’s early, but hey, being on top of things is always a good thing, and this way you won’t be scrambling around come October 29th.
I will link everything I used in these collages down below in case you are interested in any of those specific pieces. The only thing I couldn’t link was Blair’s plaid neck scarf which came from Etsy.
I hope you have a great day! And even though it’s a million degrees outside, you can join me in dreaming about fall today.
