The weekend is officially over. And I am beyond sad about that quite frankly. Not just because I am back to work today (but of course that too!!!), but also because we spent the entire weekend with my family and Wes’s family, and although we absolutely love where we live, we certainly miss seeing everyone. Now, it is Monday, and we are back to the grind. SO, I thought I’d share some of the photos from the baby shower I helped throw for my sister on Saturday.
If you know Kayla, you know that she is a girl who is not about the frilly, sparkly, ruffles and pink kind of life. She is practical. She is outdoorsy. She likes simplicity. So I wanted to make sure her baby shower was feminine (since she is having a baby girl!) but also fit her personality. I was in charge of decor, and anyone who knows me knows that I love planning parties. Could this be a future career? Sheesh that would be amazing. I went with the theme “You Are Our Greatest Adventure” and basically did a camping-style theme. It was so perfect. Kayla and her husband Rob love to camp, hike, kayak, and basically do anything outdoors, so going with something to do with nature was a no-brainer.
We used her kayak, a teepee (to look like a tent), and some little trees as main decor. I made a fake campfire using real logs and rocks and some white Christmas lights. I had my dad cut some wood, yes real, to act as chargers on the table over the burlap table runners. (Hint: get this roll if you want to do something like that because when you cut it, it doesn’t fray at all or go everywhere like burlap normally does. You will thank me.) Then we put some greenery and lanterns and tea light candles in the center of the tables.
I used jars for glasses and birch tree straws.
We had some light food, including this gorgeous and super fancy cheese tray. Watermelon was just too cute for an outdoorsy theme. I used some square parchment paper for people to grab it easily.
We had someone make these adorable cookies.
And then the guests were able to make a to-go back of trail mix as a party favor. I printed these bags on white bags from Hobby Lobby and got some black twist ties to go with them.
We had a “Wishes for Baby” area for people to write sweet (or funny) things for Baby Girl.
When the guests arrived, they signed in on a “guess the arrival date” calendar. Since Kayla is due June 2nd, I included both May and June calendars. I also did a little card with parent stats to help everyone make an informed decision!
We had a small area for photos to be taken.
Me and this little mama!
And even Kayla wore this precious flower crown!
I made her this onesie to go along with the theme as well. (The picture turned out somewhat blurry, but it’s too cute not to share!)
It was such a beautiful shower, and Kayla was celebrated so much. So many people loved on her and sweet Baby Girl (who has yet to have a name.) I’m so excited to meet her come June! (Or May 29th as I predicted.) This adventure for this mom and dad will begin so soon, and I can’t wait!
**Note: All chalkboards were made by me. Message me for additional information or to find out how to get any of these decorations for an upcoming event you may be having!
You killed this. As always. Such a party rock star.
THANK YOU! I loved it. Ready to start planning another LOL
